1. Creation of an automatic process
to produce Balance Transfer Reports for management examination for marketing analysis.
Database size in the many millions of records as it dealt with the RBS credit card
market. Transfer of a manually driven set of actions to an automatic process initiated
by the insertion of one parameter at the touch of a button. This involved extensive
writing in VBA backing and xls workbook, capturing data from the SQL Server database
using stored procedures, extracting data from the result sets so formed to connect
with pivot tables forming the basis for the construction of the worksheets within
the workbook.. All of this was encapsulated in VBA such that data was separated
from the spreadsheets.
2. The task was successfully accomplished
within the deadlines asked for, and necessarily done individually. The application
was written and designed from scratch, on own, and is about 10 pages of vba to a
workbook of 6 worksheets involving pivot tables, charts, summations etc. The architecture
of design ideas and separation of data from presentation allowed many Reports to
be used as templates, creating ease of use, data acquisition automatic and reducing
a task which could take 4 hours of expert time to within seconds. Alterations to
the Reports can now be done simply and generically
